RV Appliance Repair Services in Vero Beach
RV appliances aren't like the ones in your house. They're smaller, they run on propane and 12-volt power, and they take a beating from road vibration and Florida's heat. The fridge in your travel trailer has more in common with an antique icebox than a modern Samsung. That's not a bad thing - absorption fridges are simple and reliable when they're maintained. But when something goes wrong, you need somebody who knows the difference between a Dometic and a Norcold, and who can tell the difference between a bad thermocouple and a failed cooling unit by looking at it. That's us.
We repair all major RV appliances in Vero Beach - fridges ($175-500), water heaters ($150-350), stoves/ovens ($125-300), and washer/dryers ($200-500). We work on Dometic, Norcold, Suburban, and Atwood brands. Mobile service to your campsite or driveway. Call 772-218-5861.
RV Refrigerator Repair
Dometic and Norcold absorption fridges are what we work on most. Thermocouples, igniters, control boards, gas valves, and cooling units. If your fridge runs on electric but won't cool on propane, that's usually a burner issue we can fix in an hour. Full fridge repairs run $175-500 depending on the problem.
Water Heater Service
Suburban and Atwood water heaters are built tough, but they need regular maintenance in Florida. Anode rods corrode faster in our mineral-heavy water, and the burner tubes attract mud dauber wasps year-round. We replace anodes, elements, thermostats, and gas valves. Most water heater repairs run $150-350.
Stove & Oven Repair
RV stoves and ovens are simple compared to residential units, but they still have their issues. Clogged burner orifices, failing igniters, and thermocouple problems are what we see most. In Florida, insects love to build nests inside the gas lines during storage. We clean everything out and get your cooking again. Most repairs run $125-300.
Microwave Repair
RV microwaves take a lot of vibration on the road, and the mounting hardware loosens up over time. Beyond that, we see fuse failures, door switch issues, and magnetron problems. If your microwave runs but doesn't heat, it's usually the magnetron or a high-voltage capacitor. We can diagnose it on-site and let you know if repair or replacement makes more sense.
Washer & Dryer Repair
Splendide and Westland combo units are the most common RV washer/dryers we see. Drainage problems, drum not spinning, and control board errors are the usual complaints. Florida's humidity makes ventless models especially prone to moisture issues. Repairs typically run $200-500. We carry common parts and can fix most problems on-site.
Propane System Checks
Every RV propane appliance depends on clean, properly regulated gas flow. We test regulators, check line pressure, inspect fittings for leaks, and make sure your LP detector is working. If multiple appliances are acting up at the same time, the propane system itself is usually the culprit, not the individual appliances. A full propane system check takes about 30 minutes.
Dometic vs. Norcold: What You Should Know
Dometic Refrigerators
Dometic makes solid RV fridges. Their newer models have better temperature control and more consistent cooling than older units. The most common failures we see are thermocouple issues (the flame won't stay lit), control board failures on newer electronic models, and cooling unit leaks on units that are 10+ years old. Dometic cooling units tend to last a bit longer than Norcold in our experience, especially in Florida's heat. A typical Dometic repair runs $175-400.
Norcold Refrigerators
Norcold fridges are found in a lot of mid-range travel trailers and fifth wheels. They work on the same absorption principle as Dometic, but the components are slightly different. Norcold had some recall issues on older models related to the cooling unit, so if you've got an N641 or similar model, it's worth checking. Common repairs include the thermal fuse (a safety device that trips from overheating), gas valve replacement, and board issues. Norcold repairs typically run $175-500.
When to Repair vs. Replace
Here's our honest take. If the cooling unit has failed on a fridge that's 12+ years old, a new fridge usually makes more financial sense. An aftermarket cooling unit costs $400-600, and there's no guarantee the rest of the fridge won't have another issue soon. A brand new Dometic or Norcold runs $800-1,800 installed and comes with a warranty. But if it's a thermocouple, igniter, control board, or gas valve issue, those repairs are $175-400 and give you years of additional life. We'll always tell you which option we'd choose if it were our rig.
Florida Heat and RV Fridges
Absorption fridges struggle in ambient temperatures above 95 degrees. And in Vero Beach, we hit that from May through September. The fridge works by using heat to circulate refrigerant, and when it's already 100 degrees outside, the system can't dissipate heat fast enough to keep the box cold. Parking in shade helps. So does adding a small 12-volt fan behind the fridge to improve airflow over the cooling fins. We install these fans for about $75-125, and they make a noticeable difference. If your fridge is barely keeping food cold during summer, your AC system might also need attention since interior temperature affects fridge performance.
How Our Appliance Repair Works
Describe the Problem
Call us at 772-218-5861 or book online. Tell us which appliance is acting up, the brand and model if you know it, and what's happening. "Fridge isn't cooling on propane" or "water heater makes a clicking sound but won't light" gives us enough to prepare the right parts.
On-Site Diagnosis
We come to your location with tools and common replacement parts for Dometic, Norcold, Suburban, and Atwood units. We test the appliance, identify the failure, and give you a clear price for the repair. If it's a bigger job than expected, we'll explain your options honestly.
Fix It and Verify
We do the repair on the spot. After finishing, we run the appliance through a full cycle to make sure it's working properly. For fridges, we check temperature output on both gas and electric modes. For water heaters, we verify both ignition and output temperature. You don't pay until you're happy with the result.
